Christmas Decorations That Will Stand The Test of Time
Like the change of style within interior design, the same applies to the festive decorations. Christmas is a way to see every year as an opportunity to change your style and experiment with colours, trimmings and collections. The great thing about Christmas is you can be as bold or as subtle as you prefer with everyone’s style being unique and personal, whether you dive in with bright baubles and sparkles or enjoy muted tones and simple palettes.
Our Top Tips
We share our top tips to help you choose timeless decorations that you can bring out each Christmas then decorate to give them a on-trend feel each year. Getting in touch with our inner Kirstie Allsopp we held a masterclass in our showroom with our head interior designer Rachael Baum showing us how to create beautiful baubles with our own personal style.
Choose Classic Designs
As styles and trends change with each new season, the same applies to Christmas decorations. Natural colours and shapes are a safe choice when it comes to creating the bulk of your decorations as they will stand the test of time. Colour trends will change every year depending on the current trends. This years colour is crushed velvet pink which we are seeing in everything from sofas to dining plates however instead of buying packs of pink decorations, we encourage you to stay with classic gold and silver then accessorize with splashes of colour.
Add a Touch of Elegance
Sticking with simple colours needn’t mean they are boring decorations – in fact quite the opposite. Choosing decorations that have sequins, shimmers, glitter or iridescent finishes add a touch of glamour and elegance which is perfect for catching all the sparkle and reflections from the twinkling Christmas lights.
How To Stay on Trend
This year has seen an abundance of velvet, jewel colours and rich textures. We decided to invest in different coloured velvet ribbons to add a touch of elegance to each unique bauble. The shape and tarnished silver colour will remain timeless however by adding the velvet ribbon it gives it a completely new look and feel.
Whether it’s velvet, silk, bright pink or monochrome, you can incorporate each years trend by simply making a trip to your local haberdashery.
This Season’s Trends
There is a focus on natural elements such as feathers, organic shapes and tones so we decided to follow this trend and implement it within our Christmas decorations. We loved adding little bells, because what is more ‘Christmassy’ than the sound of sleigh bells?
